Hi, I’m Stacey Pilkington-Smith. I didn’t think my name was long enough, so I got married and hyphenated Smith.
I’ve written this About Me page so many times! Telling you how great of an artist I am, awards I’ve won, degrees in art, special training in my field, and work history is boring. You can check that info out on my CV page here – Home – Pilkington-Smith Studio (staceypsmith.com)
Here’s what is essential for anyone to know about me. I’m a deep thinker, love to be challenged, always working on bettering myself, usually ten steps ahead in my mind, and talking, and I take the important stuff very seriously but not myself.
Besides having created a wonderful family, Gallery 27 is one of the best things I have ever done this far. I started non-traditional and experimental public art shows, taught art to all ages, met artists all over the Carolinas, and offered a non-judgmental platform to artists at any level.
After Covid hit and we had to close for a couple of weeks, I realized my art and interests had taken a back seat to operate the gallery. I’m just one of those people who hates downtime and never settles. So I created The Blue House Studio keeping all the aspects I loved most about Gallery 27.
The Blue House is painted blue as a nod to Kahlo, and I filled it with all the things I love like, goodies for the online store, my studio, space to teach a small group, a bee yard, and gardens! The best part is private, and I get to work with one of the coolest chicks around. Life is good.
